Online Forms

Before attending classes every student must fill in our online forms. Please click on the correct link below to be directed to the forms:

Click HERE for online forms for students 5 – 15 years old.

Time Keeping

Please note that the warm up is an absolutely essential part of the class, it is not optional. Instructors need to be happy that each and every student’s body is safely and effectively prepared for the exercises that the class will be doing. If you are late to your class, you will not be allowed to take part in the class, and you will forfeit your deposit.

Pain Killers

We do not allow anybody to train at Emily’s Pole Fitness if they have taken painkillers in the six hours prior to the start of class. Even if the painkillers have been taken for something completely unrelated, they will restrict your ability to feel your body’s limits, and increase the likelihood of other injuries. Please respect this rule, for your own safety. If you are experiencing pain at any point before or during class, please discuss it with your instructor.

Parking

If you’re arriving by car then please always allow plenty of time to find parking. If you’re late then you will not be able to take part in the class and will forfeit your payment. There are a lot of parking options in the town centre and we highly recommend downloading the PayByPhone car parking app so you can always pay easily. There is no free parking.

1. How do I book in and how do payments work for classes? What if I can’t make a class?

For adult’s classes:

To book yourself in to start classes, please CLICK HERE to be directed to our new online booking system with Bookwhen

Classes cost £15 for 70 minutes and you are in full control of booking yourself into classes through Bookwhen. We also offer class passes (bulk payment for multiple classes with a discount) which can be used towards certain classes during a certain time frame. There are no refunds or transfers once payment has been made.

Classes run weekly which means you can start anytime and attend as much as you like. Most students attend one class per week, some do two or more classes per week, and others attend now and then. We are flexible, so how often you attend is completely your choice.

If you have booked in and can longer make a class for whatever reason then you will not be able to receive a refund or transfer your class payment. When you book into a class you do so at your own risk knowing that we don’t offer refunds or transfers.

For kids’ classes:

You can book your child in to try a class which costs £12 for a drop in session. If they enjoy the class and there is a regular weekly space then you can sign your child up to take part weekly, the cost is £45 per month with payment due on the 1st of each month. This £45 payment is a flat rate so it doesn’t matter how many classes are in a month. There are 50 weeks over the whole year so a class payment works out at roughly £10.80 each which is a bargain! If your child can’t make a class and you have paid for the month then your child’s space will still be saved and they will be booked in as usual. There are no refunds or transfers even if you can give notice that your child can’t make it.

2. Do you teach private lessons?
Yes, we teach private classes which cost £50 for an hour for one person, or £25 per person for two people or more, to be paid directly to the instructor you’d like to book in with. Please email info@emilyspolefitness.co.uk to book in your private class.

3. Do I have to attend the same class each week?
Classes run weekly which means you can start anytime and attend as much as you like. Most students attend the same one class per week, some do two or more classes per week, and others attend now and then. We are flexible, so how often you attend is completely your choice.

4. Am I too fat / old? Will I fit in?
We often get told by people that they are too heavy, too fat, too old, not strong enough etc and we want to make it very clear that we welcome ALL! You are not too fat, too heavy, too weak or too old, it doesn’t matter what gender you are, we do not care where you are from, we don’t care what your skin colour is or what your religion is etc, you are all welcome here. Everybody can pole and do aerial – the equipment doesn’t care what you look like. Emily and her instructors work hard to make all classes a fully inclusive environment, teaching all ages, shapes and sizes. We teach complete beginners so you will build up your strength over time, you do not need to be strong to take part as we help you build up your strength. We are also huge supporters of the LGBTQ+ community and we welcome everyone regardless of your sexual preferences. Classes are always fun and friendly – we are so proud of our students and the way they all support and encourage each other.

5. I’ve got no upper body strength
That’s ok! Most people don’t when they start. It’s only by coming to class that you build the strength, and you’ll be amazed by how quickly you start seeing improvement. People usually surprise themselves with what they’re capable of – you’ll be doing things you never thought you could in no time at all! We don’t expect you to be able to lift yourself on the first class – we’ll give you things to work on that are within your own ability level, and you will progress at your own pace. There is no rush, enjoy your journey and focus on yourself, not others.

6. What if everyone else is stronger / better than me?
Always focus on yourself and not others around, this is YOUR journey so enjoy every moment of your learning process. At Emily’s Pole Fitness, it’s all about working at your own pace to reach your own goals. You’ll find your fellow students are friendly and encouraging, and your instructor will give you work at your own level to make sure you build up all the strength and technique you need to move on. Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing – you’re there for you!

7. I’m pregnant / I’ve just had a baby – can I still join?
Unfortunately we don’t teach pregnant people at Emily’s Pole Fitness – the safety of our students is absolutely paramount at all times and we would never want to put your unborn baby at risk. Once baby has made an appearance and you’ve recovered from the birth, we’d love to welcome you to our crazy family! If you’ve just had a baby and everything went smoothly, our guide time for recovery is around three months before you come to start classes. If you had a caesarian section, the guide time is six months. Everybody is different, and the amount of time your body takes to recover from birth will depend upon you as an individual – it shouldn’t be rushed. If you have any questions, please email info@emilyspolefitness.co.uk

If you become pregnant after starting classes then it is your responsbility to let us know as you will no longer be able to attend classes. If you have classes in credit then you will not be able to get a refund or transfer any classes.

8. I’m struggling to find childcare. Can I bring my child to the studio?
No, we do not allow children in the room during adult’s classes.

9. What’s the minimum age to start lessons?
Participants must be at least 16 years of age for adult pole and aerial classes. We teach from 5 – 15 years old for the children’s classes.

10. I’m just getting over an illness / injury, can I still take part?
This one will depend on the nature of the illness or injury and exactly how it affects you. This isn’t one that we can answer on a generic FAQ page – please email info@emilyspolefitness.co.uk giving us some details about your issue (e.g. if it’s an injury we’d ideally need to know how it happened, how long ago, what treatment you received and how it affects you now) and letting us know which class you’re interested in, and we’ll get back to you to chat about it. You may need to get clearance from your doctor.

11. What should I expect from my first class?
Please arrive 5 minutes before your class starts so you are on time. When the class starts, the instructor will lead a fun warm-up to make sure your heart rate is up, and your limbs are mobilised and stretched ready for the session. The instructor will then teach a move or a sequence of moves and allow everyone time to work on it whilst coming round and offering help and encouragement. For your first few weeks, the instructor might offer you alternative work if what they’re teaching is too advanced for new beginners. Later in the class, you’ll usually get a chance to link the moves together and try them out to music. At the end of the class, the instructor will give the group some ‘conditioning’ exercises designed to build strength and endurance, then lead a cool down to make sure everyone is stretched off and relaxed.

12. What should I wear?
For pole classes you are advised to wear shorts and a t-shirt. Try to keep your legs and arms uncovered as you need grip to do most of the pole moves. However, feeling comfortable is essential so wear what you feel relaxed in (tracksuit bottoms etc) even though this may mean that you may not be able to do some of the pole moves properly.

For aerial hoop / silks / trapeze, you need to wear tight fitting leggings, thicker the better and a long sleeved top is also good to wear. It is a good idea to wear a leotard to protect your waist and stomach. No socks as you need the grip when performing poses and tricks. Please be aware that if you do not cover your skin you are very likely to obtain friction burns. These can occur anyway while covering up but if you don’t then the friction burns and bruises can be worse. Shorts and t-shirts are suitable for aerial pole as you need grip.

Please bring warm clothing for your warm up and cool down, ie; jogging bottoms and a hoodie / long sleeved top.

Footwear: Barefoot is best for the warm up for classes but you can wear socks at your own risk. The floors are laminate so be aware if wearing socks that it can be slippery, you’ll also have less grip on the equipment if you’re wearing socks.

You’re welcome to wear your best pair of sexy heels to pole dance classes to add to the fun side of pole dancing, however you do so at your own risk. Emily’s Pole Fitness and their instructors are not liable for any injury caused as a result of the footwear.

13. What does it cost?
Adults pole and aerial classes cost £15 for a 70 minute class. We also offer class passes (bulk payment for mulitple classes with a discount) which can be used towards certain classes during a certain time frame. There are no refunds or transfers once payment has been made.

Kids’ classes are a flat rate of £45 per month with payment due on the 1st of every month. Payments are non-refunable or transferable.

14. What is the studio like?
It’s a beautiful open space with one side for pole classes with 8 poles and the other side for our aerial classes with 4 rigging points. There are a few photos on our Contact Us Page.

15. Where can I find you?
We’re located in Swindon Town Centre on Edgeware Road, SN1 1HE. There is a map on our Contact Us Page.

16. Is there anything else I should know?
Moisturising: It is extremely important that you never use any oils or lotions on your hands or body before a lesson. The transfer of oil or lotion to the equipment makes it slippery and difficult to grip and can cause you to have an accident.

Soreness: It’s completely normal to feel sore the day after training in both pole and aerial arts. Sometimes the muscle soreness can last for several days, and it might make tasks like washing your hair, putting on a bra or changing gear in the car quite… interesting. But embrace it! It’s the sign that you’ve worked hard and your muscles are repairing themselves to be even stronger for the next time. Most people find that the soreness eases off after the first two or three classes.

Heels week: Once every four weeks, we have ‘heels week’, to give the students who want to the opportunity to try dancing in heels but you’re welcome to wear heels as often as you like. We respect that everybody has different styles and we’ll never push you into wearing heels if you don’t want to. We’ll let you know in advance when heels week is.

17. I’m really nervous
Please don’t worry – it’s totally normal to be nervous before starting a new class. Your instructor and fellow students will be welcoming and friendly, and will do everything they can to put you at ease. You’ll soon be having so much fun that you’ll have forgotten you were ever nervous!
